Casey Schwarz (b. 1955) has sculpting in his blood. His grandfather Burt Johnson (1890-1927), created many bronze WWI memorials, portraits, and fountain figures. His great aunt Annetta Johnson, was assistant to and sister-in-law of the renowned sculptor Augustus Saint Gaudens. Schwarz is tied to his esteemed ancestors through his perception of beauty in the human form. His striking white, pink, grey, and black marble sculptures of two to six feet hark back to the grace of Parthenon's figures and the fluid forms of Auguste Rodin and Henry Moore. Based on the female figure, his abstractions metamorphose and transform, flow and undulate. As gallery owner James Cox writes: "His use of natural stone, wood and bronze connect his pieces to the earth almost as though they are emerging out of molten stone. He carefully employs the natural qualities of his materials – color, striations, and surface texture – to enhance the curves and hollows of his figures. His sculptures are at once monumental and masterfully executed, yet delicately rendered." And as William Zimmer, reviewing Torsoscapes for The New York Times, responded: "Mr. Schwarz's sculptures in the tranquil garden are a genuine sight for sore eyes."

"His use of natural stone, wood and bronze connect his pieces to the earth almost as though they are emerging out of molten stone."
